Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing from The Pig

The gentle art of fly fishing was born on the chalk streams of southern England. With its enviable location in Hampshire's New Forest, The Pig nestles in the 'heart' of England's premier fly fishing counties, between the valleys of the world famous river Test, river Itchen and the river Avon.

The Pig works in partnership with Howard Taylor, the founder of Upstream Dry Fly, offering exclusive access to some of the most sought after private estate fly fishing in the world.

Get the absolute most out of your precious time on the water with one of our professional fly fishing guides who will collect you from the hotel after breakfast and spend the day with you on the riverbank.

You can enjoy an introduction to fly fishing with private tuition and exclusive use of our spring fed private estate lake near Stockbridge.

Typical chalk stream fly fishing day:

08.30: Your friendly fishing guide collects you from The Pig after a hearty breakfast.

09.15: Tackle up and begin fishing the beat of your choice.

1pm: Relax on the lawn of the estate 'fishing gardens' in the shade of thatched fishermen's huts and trickle of crystal clear water. Your lunchtime treat is a superb Pig hamper specially prepared by James and his team.

2pm onwards: Enjoy some dry fly action as the evening rise approaches

Evening: return to the hotel for a well earned drink and some tall fishing tales at the bar, followed by dinner.

Fishing Price guide: rates from around £120/rod incl VAT. Professional fly fishing guides £240/day.
