What is it?

More than a Boutique Hotel, The Pig in Brockenhurst is a classic country house and traditional country kitchen restaurant with a modern twist offering a unique and relaxing retreat in the heart of Hampshire's New Forest National Park.

It’s really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden.... everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef – they grow and find the food – the chef then makes the menu.

The Pig is the baby sister of Lime Wood – with a little attitude! It is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment........

Where is it?

Set in the heart of The New Forest National Park and 1 mile from the village of Brockenhurst, The Pig is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle. It’s just a 90 minute drive from London and very accessible from all other areas.

What is the style?

Home grown in every way – breaking the mould of designed boutique hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won’t be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed –actually we have recycled a lot of stuff – restoring and reconditioning pieces but adding twists and quirks here and there. Sitting areas have big chairs and squashy sofas, roaring fires in winter and a relaxed bar to hang out in.

Quaffing & Troughing

Overseen by Chef James Golding (ex Mark Hix – Ivy, Caprice, Sheeky’s and Soho House New York). James’s two key lieutenants won’t be his sous chefs but his forager and his kitchen gardener. This is an utterly genuine reinvented way of running the kitchen; the menus will change by the minute depending upon what the forager turns up with or what the kitchen gardener deems to be in perfect condition. Home grown with clarity of flavour, true to the micro seasons and influenced by the forest – these will be the drivers of the food style. Our further commitment is the 25 mile menu - whereby some 80% of fresh ingredients will be sourced in the local area.

What else to do in the New Forest?

The Pig is surrounded by, and has direct access into, the 1000 year old New Forest National Park. Our grounds include many outside areas for simply lazing around - created as ‘rooms’ for you to sit, soak up and savour the forest and gardens over a glass ,or a plate or two. Take a wander around to discover hammocks between the trees, the odd bench placed in a little tranquil corner and a wood fired oven in the courtyard for those al fresco dining days.
